Blackville is considered the "Salmon Fishing Capital of the Miramichi River".
Guiding is a common occupation of local residents, and sport fisherman have a long history of enjoying the company and expertise of the guides. Most are friendly local characters that really offer flare and personality to your angling experience. Most of the fishing pools are privately owned and visiting anglers must seek one of these characters to fish the waters. The Miramichi River produces nearly fifty percent of all the rod caught salmon in North America, and the current fishing policies help keep stocks at an optimum level for future generations and future visitors to enjoy.
There are numerous restaurants and attractions in Blackville, despite its small size. It also features a Village health clinic with two staff doctors, and extramural nursing service, and a state of the art public Access Centre, which provides Internet access and many other services to the community. Also, you can take advantage of the recreational opportunities at Blackville Municipal Park, where you will find groomed walking trails, picnic areas, and playground.
